Gauges

A gauge that gives you a false reading could in the end help to your demise so having gauges you can trust is very important thing. Their are three things that a scuba driver relies on gauges for. Let's go over these three things in a little more detail so we know where we stand with gauges. depth and time are two of these important gauges as they are vital for nitrogen and air management. You need to know how deep a diver is and how long he has been down their to better judge the length of decompression stops and calculate residual nitrogen for repetitive dives. Most scuba gauges are sold in clusters in an integrated console, but usually a single console is attached to the hose on his tank. This usually shows the current depth and tank pressure.

Out of all the gauges the air consumption is probably the most import of the gauges by far for many different reasons. You need to know how much air you have left in the tank so you can make other decisions about your dive. You don't want to go to far down if you know you are low on air as that could end in a deadly result which is never good. Gauges are very important to the scuba diver just as gauges on cars are important to the driver. These are his instruments to see how he is doing underwater and how much longer he can stay their safely and what his next options will be. Gauges make this all possible. While looking for gauges you should always buy brand new. used ones may not be as accurate and you really can't be sure how long they have been used. Check the warranties on any gauges you buy so you know how long they are expected to last.

One important thing especially if you do alot of diving is getting backlighting gauges or luminescent ones. Sometimes it can get real hard to see in murky water and lighted up gauges give you a better measure of safety than anything else. Scuba tank pressure gauge is just as important as the other gauges so don't skimp on quality in that area either.
